About PALLIAKID
PALLIAKID is an interdisciplinary project aiming to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of novel interventions for children, adolescents and young people (AYA) with palliative and end-of-life care needs in different healthcare systems across Europe, with a focus on those factors that influences the active patients’ and family caregivers’ engagement.
PALLIAKID responds to several needs or gaps identified by the consortium clinical partners, grouped into three cornerstones of paediatric palliative care:
- Early identification of children and AYAs with palliative and end-of-life care needs
- Comprehensive assessment of children and their family caregivers’ needs
- A comprehensive, personalised, interdisciplinary care plan including Advance Care Planning.
Role of Artemis R&I
Artemis R&I is responsible for the task concerning the development of the Patient Journey Digital Platform and it will be based on co-creation sessions. The digital platform will incorporate different interfaces and features and will follow an iterative process. Initially, a living lab approach will be adopted. The digital platform will be improved by several project activities such as training with PPC professionals, RCT study, and further discussions to develop the policy recommendations, guidelines and standards.
Artemis R&I is also leading the task concerning the fine-tuning of the PALLIAKID intervention tools that will take place after the implementation phase. The information collected at each clinical site will be analyzed in order to identify potential and feasible improvements to PALLIAKID tools to deliver their final validated version.

- EU Contribution: 3,994,552.50
About AVALON
The AVALON vision is to bring the sixth generation (6G) quality of experience to underwater defence applications. It proposes the use of underwater optical wireless communications (UOWC) in order to increase the data rates in underwater applications from the kbps to the Gbps range. In more detail, AVALON will design novel optical transmitters and receivers that are capable of performing beyond 5G tasks, such as integrated communication and localization.
Role of Artemis R&I
Artemis R&I is responsible for the coordination of the project along with the design of its technical architecture and the definition of the interfacing principles of the project’s individual components (optical transceiver, ORIS, beam tracking, AI/ML tools etc.) interfacing. Furthermore, it will provide a comprehensive description of the AVALON system structural components, the information flow between them, as well as information about their practical implementation.
